What is the role of a Class Mother/Father?
As Class Mother/Father you could be asked to help the teacher in classroom activities and/or involve parents to do so. You are also a link between the Home & School Association and the parents of this class. The class mother/father represents the contact person between the teacher and the class parents.
As Class Mother/Father, your tasks will vary according to the preferences and needs of the teacher. You may be asked to recruit parents to bring treats for a special event organized by the teacher or asked to find parent volunteers to assist the teacher with a class project. You may also assist parents who wish to organize an activity or group teacher gift, for example.
You will receive the list of students in your child’s class along with parent emails. This list is confidential, please use it wisely. The Home & School Association will introduce you as the Class Mother/Father or Assistant Mother/Father to your class.
A few suggestions….
- Teamwork makes the dream work! We encourage multiple Class Mothers/Fathers per class.
- Please contact all the parents in your class as early as possible to introduce yourself and provide your contact information.
- If this is your first time being a Class Mother/Father or are new to the school, please let us know and we can introduce you to some volunteer parents who have been in this role. Please contact us at foyer.ecole@gmail.com and we will introduce you!
- If you decide to offer a collection for a group gift for your teacher in December and/or end of year, please let your parents know as early as possible so they can plan for it.
